About Tope

My Story
I moved to the Bay Area from Ohio 5 years ago. It was here I truly discovered my passion for food and nutrition as I was exposed to culturally diverse foods and the impact of food on health.
Throughout school, science was my strongest subject, and I enjoyed learning about interactions of substances in the body; therefore, I earned my first degree in biochemistry. I became intrigued by the impact of food, vitamins, and minerals on metabolism and health outcomes. This interest in science, public health and love for talking about food led me to a Masters of Public Health degree focused on nutrition and physical activity. I enjoy designing and implementing nutrition programing for underserved adolescents, and I gained experience in this area through my MPH coursework and my work and volunteer experiences.
Through my exploration of dietetics during my DPD program, I have found my greatest passion in clinical nutrition. My academic and professional goals include being matched to and completing a clinically focused dietetic internship. I have recognized my clinical nutrition interests in pediatrics, diabetes, and enteral and parenteral nutrition support, and I am committed to becoming an inpatient clinical dietitian. I want to specialize to become a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician. I also aim to be a future dietetic internship preceptor and give back to the field of dietetics.
I ultimately hope to leverage my knowledge in clinical dietetics and apply it my other passion in sports nutrition .The professional possibiities within the field of dietetics are endless and I am excited to continue on this journey!
