Nutrition Work Experience
Huckleberry Youth Programs, Huckleberry Wellness Academy
I work with San Francisco Unified School District high school students individually and during group workshops, with nutrition and physical activity goal setting. I also purchase and prepare healthy and nutritious meals on a weekly basis to students. My coworkers and I collaborate weekly to plan the meals to be served for students. I have completed the training at the county food bank, which allows the program, as a non-profit organization, to receive reduced cost food. I have also worked in a consulting role with the health education department of Huckleberry to develop a food justice and food production curriculum for peer health educators.

Hint Water and Napa Nuts
I assist the Northern California Hint Marketing Manager with sampling and distributing Hint Water at various events including races and health fairs. As a part of this role I interact with customers to promote the product and answer their questions. I practice beverage safety and sanitation protocol when sampling the product. Napa Nuts is a wholesale nut and trail mix company, and I have periodically worked as brand ambassador promoting their products and preparing gift baskets and packages.
Citizen Schools Americorps National Teaching Fellowship
As a Citizen Schools National Teaching Fellow, I co-developed and taught two semester-long curriculum to middle school students. One of the curricula was focused on physical activity and goal-setting and the other was focused on nutrition, healthy habits, and goals-setting. As part of this role I collaborated with the registered dietitian at the San Mateo County Department of Public Health Nutrition, to revise and tailor the nutrition curriculum to match the needs of the students I taught.

Nutrition Volunteer Experience
Saint Francis Memorial Hospital
Clinical Nutrition
I screen patients to assess for food allergies and preferences as well as conditions and disease states that may interfere with food intake. If patients are unaware or unclear about their diet, I provide basic counseling about therapeutic diets. I also speak with patients to inquire about their satisfaction related to hospital food quality and food service. In this role I have extensive patient interaction and I have the opportunity to work with different types of dietetic professionals including Registered Dietitians, both clinical and food management, diet clerks, foodservice workers, and a dietetic intern. I facilitate test tray evaluations focused on food temperatures, to assess meal try adherence to safety and sanitation standards.

American Heart Association
Community Nutrition
I assisted with the Teens Cook with Heart program through the American Heart Association. I worked with the lead chef and helped with facilitating cooking lessons. The workshops were held at various SFUSD high schools. These cooking lessons teach high school students how to buy and prepare healthy, nutritious, and tasteful meals on a budget. I am currently working on a project to review and edit the facilitator and student guidebooks for Teens Cook with Heart.
Please refer to my or for information about other relevant experience I have in biochemisty and pharmacology research, elementary and collegiate level teaching, various types of couseling, and food service.
Third Street Boxing Gym
Sports Nutrition
I teach cardio boxing and bootcamp classes to adult members of the gym on a weekly basis. As part of the bootcamp program, I facilitated sessions about how to utilize food tracking as a way to monitor and assess food in-take, organized body composition assessments for participants, and discussed MyPlate and macro and micro nutrient guidelines as tools to help participants reach their health, nutrition and fitness goals.
